How We Actually Review Games
People sometimes assume reviewing games is all early access and free stuff. For us it's mostly a lot of quiet hours with a phone, a notes app open, and a lukewarm coffee. Here's how a review actually comes together at Frost Hub.
First, someone plays. Properly — not a demo, not a trailer. We aim for at least a few real sessions across different moods, because a game that's fun at your desk can feel awful on a crowded bus. Both matter.
Then we argue. Ratings get discussed as a team, and if one editor loved something and another bounced off it, that tension usually makes the final write-up more honest. We'd rather admit a game splits opinion than pretend there's one right answer.
Only then does the review get written, and it always mentions the annoying bits alongside the good ones. No game is perfect, and pretending otherwise would waste your time and ours.
